god
|
|
We believe there is only one true God, the Creator of the universe, and that within the Godhead there are three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We reject any form of the theory of evolution, and believe the first human couple were created by direct act of God, not from previously existing forms of life. |
The Lord Jesus christ
|
up |
We believe He is the Second Person of the Godhead. He has eternally existed as God; He became the God man, one person with two natures, one human and the other Divine. His Incarnation was by means of a unique Virgin birth. He lived a perfectly righteous life, and fulfilled every Messianic Old Testament prophecy concerning the first coming of God in Christ. We believe He is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe, and will one day be the Judge of Mankind. We believe He is properly addressed in prayer, has authority to forgive sins, the power to regenerate the sinner, and indwell the believing heart in the person of the Holy Spirit. We believe that even now He is the Great High Priest of our Profession, and the Head and Lord of the Church which is his body. |
The holy spirit
|
up |
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person, equal with God the Father and God the Son, and of the same nature; that He was active in the creation; that in his relation to the unbelieving world he restrains the evil one until God’s purpose is fulfilled; that he convicts of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; that he bears witness to the truth of the Gospel in preaching and testimony; that he is the agent in the new birth; that he seals, endues, girds, teaches, witnesses, sanctifies. (John 14:16,17; Matthew 28:19; Hebrews 9:14; John 3:5-6; Ephesians 1:13; Mark 1:8; John 1:33; Acts 11:15,16; Luke 24:49; Romans 8:14,16,26,27; Romans 15:19; Hebrews 2:4; I Corinthians 13:8).
We believe that the Holy Spirit permanently indwells every believer from the moment of his regeneration (Romans 8:9).
We believe that God is sovereign in all things, including the bestowal of spiritual gifts to every believer. God uniquely uses evangelists, pastors, and teachers to equip believers in the assembly in order that they can do the work of the ministry. (Romans 12:3-8; I Corinthians 12:4-11,28; Ephesians 4:7-12).
We believe that the sign gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as speaking in tongues and the gift of healing, were temporary. We believe that speaking in tongues was never the common or necessary sign of the baptism or filling of the Holy Spirit and that ultimate deliverance of the body from sickness or death awaits the consummation of the our salvation in the resurrection, though God frequently chooses to answer the prayers of believers for physical healing (I Corinthians 1:22-24; 13:8; 14:21,22). |
the scriptures
|
up |
We believe that the Holy Bible, as originally written, was verbally and plenarily inspired and the product of Spirit-controlled men, and therefore is truth without any admixture of error for its entire matter. We believe the Bible to be the center of true Christian unity and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds and opinions shall be tried. (II Timothy 3:16,17; II Peter 1:19-21) |
satan
|
up |
We believe that Satan is a person, the author of sin and the cause of the fall of man; that he is the opened and declared enemy of God and man; and that he shall be eternally punished in the Lake of fire. (Job 1:6,7; Isaiah 14:12-17; Matthew 4:2-11, 25:41; Revelation 20:10) |
the fall of man
|
up |
We believe that man was created in innocence under the law of his maker; but by voluntary transgression Adam fell from his sinless and happy state, in consequence of which all men are totally depraved, are partakers of Adam’s fallen nature, and are sinners by nature and by conduct; and therefore are under just condemnation without defense or excuses. (Genesis 3:1-6; Romans 3:10-19, 5:12,19; 1:18,32) |
justification
|
up |
We believe that justification is the judicial act of God whereby He declares us to be righteous through faith in Christ Jesus; that justification includes that pardon of sin and the imputation of God’s righteousness; that is bestowed not in any works of righteousness which we have done, but solely by grace through faith in the Redeemer’s blood. (Acts 13:39; Isaiah 53:11; Zechariah 13:1; II Corinthians 5:18-21; Romans 5:1,9; 8:1) |
REPENTANCE and faith
|
up |
We believe that repentance and faith are gifts of God’s infinite grace. (Acts 5:31; 11:18; Romans 2:4; II Timothy 2:25; Ephesians 2:8,9)
We believe that repentance is the change of mind and purpose toward God wrought in the sinner’s heart by the Holy spirit; that it is characterized by godly sorrow for sin as offensive to god and ruinous to the soul; and that true repentance is inseparably related to true faith. (Luke 13:1-3; Acts 8:22; Romans 2:4; II Corinthians 7:10; Acts 20:21).
We believe that faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the only condition of salvation (Acts 16:3), but also believe that Scripture defines true faith as repentant faith. |
conversion
|
up |
We believe in the necessity of conversion, being the work of the Holy Spirit, the result of which is genuine repentance and faith (Acts 20:21, Matthew 18:3), and that all who are truly saved will have a new life characterized by righteousness. (II Corinthians 5:17; Romans 8:1-9; I John 3:5-10; Matthew 7:21; Hebrews 12:14; Matthew 21: 28-31) |
security of the true believer
|
up |
We believe that all the redeemed, only truly saved, are kept by the power of God through faith and are thus secure in Christ forever. (John 6:37-40: 10:27-30; Romans 8:1;38,39; I Peter 1:4,5) |
the church
|
up |
We believe that the church consists of all Christians in this age, but is particularly manifest in local church assemblies (Ephesians 5:25; Colossians 1:18; Philippians 4:15; I Thessalonians 1:1)
We believe that the local church is to follow the rules presented in Scripture, as to its officers, its ordinances, it mission, and activities. (I Timothy 3:1-7; Acts 2:41,42; Ephesians 4:11; I Corinthians 12:12,13)
We believe the local assembly has the privilege and responsibility of sending and supporting both home and foreign missionaries wherever God leads them. (Acts 1:8; Romans 10:14; Acts 13:1-4)
We believe the church body is comprised of individuals who have made a public profession of faith and after their conversion were baptized by immersion under the authority of a local church. |
baptism
|
up |
We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of the believer in water, under the authority of the local church, to show forth a solemn and beautiful emblem of our crucified, buried, and risen Savior, through whom we died to sin and rose to a new life. (Acts 8:36-39; 2:41,42; Romans 6:3-5)
|
the lord’s supper
|
up |
We believe that the church should observe the Lord’s Supper on a regular basis. We normally observe this ordinance a minimum of once each quarter. (I Corinthians 11:23-28) |
last things
|
up |
We believe in the imminent, pre-millennial return of Christ for His Church, and at that moment the dead in Christ will be raised in glorified bodies, and the living Christians shall be caught up alive to meet the Lord in the air. (I Thessalonians 4:13-18; I Corinthians 15:42-44)
We believe that the great tribulation, which follows the rapture of the Church, will be culminated by the revelation of Christ in power and great glory, to sit upon the throne of David, and to establish the Millennial reign. (Daniel 9:25-27; Matthew 24:29-31; Isaiah 9:6,7; Revelation 20:1-4) |
human sexuality
|
up |
We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity should be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex. (Genesis 2:24; 19:5,13; 26:8,9; Leviticus 18:1-30; Romans 1:26-29; I Corinthians 5:1; 6:9; I Thessalonians 4:1-8; Hebrews 13:4) |
marriage and divorce
|
up |
We believe that God hates divorce and intends marriage to last until one of the spouses dies. (Malachi 2:14-17; Matthew 19:3-12; Romans 7:1-3; I Timothy 3:2,12; Titus 1:6)
Those believers having been divorced or divorced and remarried may be considered for certain leadership, teaching and other positions of service in the Church and be greatly used of God for Christian service. |
abortion
|
up |
We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified, unexcused taking of unborn human life. Abortion is murder. We reject any teaching that abortions of pregnancies due to rape, incest, birth defects, gender selection, birth or population control, or the mental well being of the mother are acceptable. (Job 3:16; Psalm 51:5; 139: 14-16; Isaiah 44:24; 49:1,5; Jeremiah 1:5; 20:15-18; Luke 1:44) |
music
|
up |
We believe that all our music should glorify God and honor Christ, therefore we do not support nor desire to use music that is worldly or designed to arouse or excite the flesh such as that which is called contemporary, “gospel rock” or “Christian rock”. |
